Pete’s broke new ground on 3 acres of land in the Robins International Industrial Park.
WARNER ROBINS, Ga. (41NBC / WMGT) – The County of Peach and the Town of Warner Robins have teamed up to provide a home for Pete’s Indoor Greenhouse.
Pete’s broke new ground early Wednesday morning on 3 acres of land in Robins International Industrial Park. The goal is to expand to 24 hectares.
Pete’s is based in California and is the West Coast’s premier indoor greenhouse company. It specializes in the cultivation of lettuce and the packaging of varieties of salads.
âWe wanted to bring fresh local lettuce to consumers in the area,â said Brian Cook, CEO of Pete’s.
Cook says they want to show the community that there is an alternative to traditional farming through greenhouse cultivation.
In addition to bringing fresh, local and sustainable food to the region. they will also bring more jobs.
âOur jobs will be better paying, but it will be a lot of IT type jobs,â Cook said.
This location will be the second and their goal is to expand into other areas.
âI think it’s great to have Pete’s, and I’m really thrilled not only with the opportunity for Pete’s, but also with the growth that is going to happen,â said Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms.
Construction of the greenhouse will begin in the coming months and should be completed by next year.
